The Cervera house was designed to satisfy the distinct needs of a mother and son. It comprises two wings that curve to meet in a light filled common room where five meter high windows open onto an ample pond, uniting interior and exterior space. A trellised walkway completes the circle. A wood and marble stairway spirals from the living room to a second story apartment. Circles and curves characterizes the space, making it flow.
The tone of the Cervera house is tranquil. Diffused light filters through stained glass windows set in the common room's ceiling. A transitional space between the mother's wing and the common room offers an inviting stone bench which sits under a traveler's palm. A corner of the common room is dedicated to a Buddhist altar of polished cedar.
