McCartney wanted a house in Merida's urban core which nonetheless had a rustic character. Peeled zopote branches, ceramic tiles from puebla, Ticul stone, yucatecan slate. These are the elements that Miguel used to make his client's wishes reality. The house, with it's ample rooms and its long covered corridors, is elegant and rustic at once.
It is magical at night. Reflector lights lead the eye down a columned corridor, and pick out highlights from the water cascading down a slate wall. The pool comes alive, its light glancing off walls, turning them a warm yellow as it passes.
